With so many abbreviations and numbers, looking at your prescription can be perplexing. Here's our guide on deciphering your prescription so you can ensure that you'll be seeing crystal clear!
OD short for "Oculus Dexter", OD is referring to your right eye.
OS short for "Oculus Sinister", OS is referring to your left eye.
SPH abbreviated for "Sphere", SPH specifies the lens power you need to see clearly. If you are farsighted, a plus (+) symbol will be next to the number, and a minus (-) symbol next to this number means you are nearsighted.
CYL abbreviated for "cylinder", CYL shows the amount of astigmatism correction needed. If this space is blank on your prescription, it means that you do not have astigmatism.
AXIS defines the position and the location of the cylinder correction on your eye. If this space is blank on your prescription, it means that you do not have astigmatism.
ADD Having an add in your prescription indicates that you need a progressive or bifocal lens. Be sure to select the "Progressive / Bifocal" prescription option.
