PD, or Pupillary Distance, is the number of millimeters between the pupils of your eyes. This measurement helps us prepare prescription glasses and ensures that the prescription aligns with your eyes. PD indicates exactly where you will look through the lenses of your glasses.
Why is it so important, you may ask? Well, without the right PD, you may experience headaches and/or eye strain from your glasses, because they will not align with your line of vision properly.
If you do not have a PD number on your prescription, you can easily measure it yourself using our website instructions by clicking on the following link: https://www.ezcontacts.com/resources/measure-pupil-distance You can also reach out to your optometrist or previous glasses dispenser as well.
If you're hesitant to rely on your own measurements, don't be! You can use the average of three measurements to get the most accurate reading. Also, keep in mind that your PD can be off up to 3mm without any noticeable difference. (Unless you have a high prescription or progressive lenses.)
Some customers may find that instead of a single number, their eye doctor will include a dual PD, with a separate PD for each eye. In this case, you can select the “I have 2 PD Numbers” option on our website. EZContacts offers PD options from 50 to 72, which are the most popular sizes. If you need a PD number that is not offered on the list of options, you can enter it into the “Any Extra Info” section.
